# How-To Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 8-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper; lightly flour the sides or grease and dust with cocoa if preferred.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder and fine salt in a medium bowl until evenly distributed.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium speed until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- With the mixer on low, add the flour mixture and whole milk to the butter mixture in three alternating additions, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Use a rubber spatula to fold gently after each addition until just combined. Fold in the sprinkles carefully to prevent color bleed.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake in the preheated oven for 28 to 32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a clean bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until incorporated. Stir in the vanilla, then add 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk as needed to reach a spreadable consistency. Fold in the sprinkles and chill until ready to assemble.
- Place one cake layer on a serving platter. Spread a generous layer of the chilled funfetti dip over the top. Set the second layer atop the filling and use the remaining dip to coat the top and sides evenly with an offset spatula or knife.
- Press additional sprinkles and optional edible candies onto the frosted cake as desired. Chill the assembled cake for at least 30 minutes to set the frosting, then slice and serve.
